So is Sky dead or alive after all?

I have not post on this blog for a long time - almost forgotten its existence; including Sky of course. Just learned from a swiftlet farming friend Sky was reborned as CK behind the blog

http://worldofswiftletfarming.blogspot.com

It could very well be true judging from the writing style and some of its contents - still going for Harry. As the old saying goes "A leopard can never change its spots". This old saying is so true to the bone!

True or not? It is up to one's judgment!

All I can say is Sky may run & hide or reincarnate himself - a game too easy to play behind anonymity in cyberspace. It is a small world still - those deeds (or misdeeds) of his past life will come back to trail him!

IQ & 'brain drain'

Another Kiwi farang wrote to Bangkokpost's Postbag, quote"

Big projects, brain drain

I get a sense of deja vu when reading about Samak's planned mega-projects. Nearly 30 years ago, New Zealand's then prime minister Sir Robert Muldoon implemented his "Think Big" strategy, in which the government borrowed heavily and pumped the funds into large-scale industrial projects which were predicted to create trickle-down benefits in the form of jobs and revenue.

This never happened. The projects turned out to be white elephants, causing a large fiscal deficit and a recession which prompted many New Zealanders to emigrate to Australia.

When reporters asked Muldoon if he was concerned about the brain drain caused by skilled New Zealanders emigrating to Australia, Muldoon said he wasn't: "I look at it as a positive thing, as it will raise the IQ in both countries."

How's that an IQ of a prime minister?

Well, presumably he didn't choose to migrate I suppose.

An amusing idea from amazing Thailand

I haven't post here for a while.. 'cause nothing worth mentioning until this one from Bangkokpost's PostBag.

Quote:
Another daft idea

As the owner of a minimart in Pattaya, I was amused to be told recently that as of Aug 1, all minimarts must turn around bottles of whisky and beer in their shops, in a vain attempt at discouraging people from drinking.

If this is the best attempt by the Thai government to reduce the number of drinkers, I find it laughable. You will have customers being unable to distinguish brands, and staff will have to be constantly turning bottles around to show customers their selection.

This appears to be another well-thought-out policy that keeps Thailand as the world's laughing stock.

How on earth someone came up with such an idea and got it through?

I call this thinking "out of the box"! (May be there isn't any box!)

Or is this a 'half measure' thinking with half the brain?

But as a joke I rate this one 'original' with 5 stars!

Imagine you walk into a liquor store seeing only the back of bottles!

Will they do the same to cigarettes too?

Ideas to cope with high oil price!

A friend sent me these photos.. guess it make sense these days when oil price keep hitting record highs with no end in sight.

Retrofit with wind powered hybrid.. the DIY way.

Future of budget airline.. may take a little longer to your destination!

Don't need to get rid of your gas guzzling monster!

Eskimo & Santa provides us with an age old solution.. don't we realize?

Don't throw your batteries away.. recharge them.

Don't walk your dog, catch a ride instead.

When gas run out.. the last resort!

It is not all doom.. each price hike will push the world to respond with innovations. It may take time though. I am an optimist.

Finally, a famous quote from an ex-OPEC chief:
"The stone age wasn't left behind for the lack of stones. The same can happen to oil."
Hope OPEC countries heed his wisdom.

One man's meat is another's poison!

Bird nest soup, a delicacy?

Yuks! How can you stomach that?

I came across this blog claimed bird nest soup is among the most disgusting food delicacies! Surely it comes from an ignorant angmoh!

This frog got out of its well only to discover culture shocks! The thought of bird's sliver simply made his stomach turns! Well, is it really sliver? A misnomer, isn't it?

Look after the cows!

Cows remind me of Sky's quote of Buddha: "No cow is better".

The other day I came across the turn around story of the Indian State Railway. It is a remarkable story that make Mr. Lalu Prasad, the current Railway Minister, a much sought after speaker these days.

He has a sense of humor when it come to cows :
"If we don't milk the cows fully, they become sick. If cows fall sick, farmers goes bankrupt and bankers loose money. So we better look after the cows".

So is no cows still better?

Here is a link if you wish to read more:

Well, I came across some appreciations of cows in art form.

Imagine seeing these in open park grounds in Singapore!
