IMHO, if somebody is genuine to offer advice.. people will appreciate by the way it is put across. In your case, ya.. again was in a ridicule style + arrogant tone. If intentions were to mean well.. people will know without saying. He just stepped on your shoulder, standing taller to tell the world "how good or clever he is!" Did him a favor lah, let him have another dose of ego booster. May be it's the "drug" he needs every now and then.

Just like the fussy lady I met at the tailor shop, I wonder how such characters has come to being? SAME, SAME; but different (in sex with 4oz more).

In the words of Swiftbuild, he suffers a "self confident deficiency syndrome".

My take is quite similar. One theory is he may have develop an inferiority complex in his early years. Subconsciously, there is always a need to "Thumb" others down to feel "One-up".

May be seeking professional counseling is a better alternative to the boring sessions of a meditation retreat. He is loaded enough to afford it. Is he the miser type? Prefer to count the stack of RM & feel "siok"? Dunno... It's his personal choice.

I am not pretending to look after his well being! He should know better for his own sake.
Neither am I a psycho-analysis expert. It's pure theater and entertainment here.

There is plenty time to kill between nests harvesting ma.. let the plays go on loh.

Finally, in regard to his critiques to your farm, those are only his subjective views. As to the height, I have known farms with internal 2M height is OK, though I personally prefer 1 m higher. Also seen birds nesting in fairly bright areas of roving room (in a very established and heavily populated farm). So these are not critical factors to the success or failure of a farm. If some points make sense, check it out. Nothing to loose.

If he opens up his farm like you did, there are fine hairs to pick too; who knows?

Sure, who don't wan 2 be one? A catchy caption always. Seen people use it on titles of books, Blogs etc. The blatant ones would flout their bank account, open wallets and material trappings.

Hope gradually more than 20% swiftlet farmers will make the mark. I suppose it will happen for those who are persistent in the pursuit, its only a matter of time. Sorry, I am not smart enough to help you get there, but a little piece of humble advice once you are there.

2 years ago, a uni-mate returned to see his terminally ill elder brother with liver cancer. His bro was a multi-millionaire many times, a big timer in corporate world with directorships in PLCs. Of course he don't display $$$ openly like our friend lah. It will humble Sky if he does!

My friend shook his head to see his bro, despite of his wealth, being such a miser to himself and people around him! They tried to arrange specialist treatment for him in US and he still shy from the treatment costs.

Seen this in our neighborly Thai Kingdom? Wat a subtle & yet deep sense of humor. Don't know which smart guy coined it.. I do salute him. May be a street vendor tried to pass off COPY CAT Rolex to him as SAME, SAME. Sure he is smart enough to know it's different.

Ya.. also remember when some thing comes free, where is the catch? There are so many genuine freebies around we enjoy using beside Swiftlet hotels; e.g. hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail, blog posting sites, You Tube .. list is endless. Does it make biz sense.. Hotmail was bought by MSN for couple hundred millions $, Google bought You Tube for something like 2 billions. Crazy ah!

What don't make sense to us make good biz sense to people that think out of the box. Of course we now know it is advertisement revenue that propel Google to be a top revenue earning company. You can make money too if you employ AdSense on your web site or Blogs (if enough visitor traffic though). Sorry mine got no hope lah, no need to think of it. Who ask u to pick the wrong subject ma!

Well.. internet is also a platform for people to make money in various ways... many of you know already lah. First is to provide information for FREE. Where is the catch? Give you some info enough to wet your appetite, want real info.. pay loh! A very common tactic in the industry. Aren't both Sky and Harry doing the same?

You also see others ways, like direct advertisement (sell Hygrostat/buying raw nest); use the forum to gain exposure (Trader, CON-sultants & Swiftlet equipment suppliers); restricting forum membership to encourage books sales etc. so long as a honest biz.. nothing wrong wat, just a matter of different tactics.

While most are open about it, some cleverly disguise it. Only hyporcrite denies it. Aren't all "SAME, SAME; but different"? Even a 3 year old can tell lah! Wise or not is another matter.

People watching in Swiftlet ranching communities

An encounter with an elderly tailor came to mind tonight. He was attending to a fussy lady who complained about every trivial fault on workmanship she could pin point. I waited for more than 30 mins before she finished and he kept his cool throughout.

OMG, how on earth there are such people around! After she left, I commended him on his patience. He replied with a simple line, "One strain of rice feeds a hundred different people". Wow, very true indeed. I was most impressed with his humility and profound wisdom. How many such people are around I thought?

Indeed people watching has become one of my favorite past times. People are just fascinating and amusing.

There was a time when the swiftlet forum at Lowyat was transformed into a "Muay Thai" boxing ring where trader, consultant & anonymous imposters traded ugly kicks & punches at each other - one on one. These are all well educated people, much more than the humble tailor. Being a lame audience, I watched with amusement from the ringside.

As the storm blew itself over, another episode continued. Next round was more like a WWF ring where a Superstar (no other than Sky) took on a bunch of Pro wrestlers. This was even more entertaining, is this guy smart or stupid? Well in truth, he does has a smart side + stupid ways to go with it. The ending was predictable, he took on more than he can handle. He was thrown over the top rope like in Royal Rumble. But being a hard core superstar, such hard landing is just another day. So are smart people wise?

Well, tat's is the end of the story so I thought, but how wrong tat was! His legacy continues by taking on Harry in his own blog.. eh, another blog featuring Sky can be interesting leh. So we swiftlet ranchers can have some laughs ma. Don't be so serious all the time learning only to pampers the birds. If he gain fame in the process, good for him loh. After all he professed to be famous only in JB & Singapore.

Internet put him now on the world stage. If you Google search with "swiftlet humor" key words, this blog comes out top in about 910 listings to my surprise. This is not a self congratulation, how many "nothing better to do" people like me will try such a search?

The funny thing is Sky thought I am Harry in disguise or a friend acting on his behalf. He don't know Harry is scratching his head just as much where Walet.funny come from!

My wish is we can co-exist harmoniously. Swiftlet ranching should be a relaxing occupation to enjoy ma. Why all these animosity towards each other for wat? Better we all can play, play together right?

Are smart men always wise?

Of all things Sky ever said, his repeated advice to Con-sultants was most sensible.... "Misdeeds will return to haunt them someday. Think about your kids, they will suffer as a consequence of bad karmas", he lamented.

The question is does he remembers after saying so? Did he ever wonder the same may apply to him one fine day? Every dog has his day.. another Angmoh saying goes i.e. someday will come! That's why self reflection is good for your soul. We are never perfect and always get caught within our own ego.

I guess these days he is laughing to the bank more than going to the temple. Where got time for tat.

Can a leopard change its spots?

This Angmoh saying, "A leopard can't change its spots".. seems a universal truth.

The last posting was a personal message to Sky... hope he take a look into mirror with some soul searching and self reflection.

May be he did, may be not. If he did.. seem like he just look into the mirror only to counts his spots, "Still the same number leh! Wat's wrong with tat?"

Poor Harry, going to get more bites for no good reason. Sky may have leeches all over Harry's body too. Did you both fell out of bed in previous lives? 'Cause Harry was on top more than the other way around? So now a chance to get even this life?

I would prefer leeches than a dog's bite, never mind if all over the body. You may get more bites and loose blood though.. but not so painful mah! Besides, a bull dog won't let go its bite one! Wat about leeches? You can rub salt and they should drop off ma. Don't be so sure.. Sky's leeches are salt resistant ones. He already is! Then use cigarette butts loh.... but his variant species are the thick skin type, heat resistant too! (same, same as him?) Oh, ya.. I forgot he is a very smart guy, always many steps ahead and will out smart people easy with 3 HEADS! Don't play, play ah.

Well, think I have poke enough fun at Sky over the past postings. I also believe he is open minded enough taking as pure humor without offense. As he asked Harry not to be angry... so I ask the same of him. If he does.. then please be angry with NOBODY.

Some may wonder am I wasting my time here.. nothing better to do ah? As I said each of us have different motives and objectives. So long as I am happy doing this.. OK wat?

Frankly it is Sky that prompted me to start blogging, in particular his treatment of Crazybird. That to me is the UGLIEST side of him. Crazybird was desperately appealing for help and advice and the way Sky treated him was so unkind.. may be his ego was bruised. I wonder how one who can quote Buddha's (No Cows philosophy) behave like tat!!

But thanks to Sky I picked new skills along the way. Like using the Visitor Statistics counter... I did picked it up from his blog. Copy cat is OK.. nothing wrong if you learn something in the process.

My other observations of Sky:
Overall he is not a bad person, I see nothing evil in him so far. He does has strong believes and convictions and stand by it, some times to the point of stubbornness with display of arrogance. I like his view we Chinese should not fight Chinese and encourage all to join the swiftlet farmers associations for unity and strength. But how many out there really bother and heed his advice? I do share his views about the many so-called CON-sultants lurking out there.

When I say he has diverse interests and is knowledgeable, I do mean it. He also demonstrates thinking out of the box ability in his postings. Truly he is a smart & remarkable person.

Like all humans, we have our failings.. being blunt (with some arrogance), abrasive and lack of communication skills gained him no favors with others. OK, OK.... no more rubbing salts for now.

As to whether or not I am Harry.. just to make it clear here I AM NOT. I say it categorically here because it affects Harry's integrity & reputation. Joke is joke.. but within limits. My postings should not smear his good name out of Sky's suspicions.

How to prove? Well if we all have good intentions and be friendly to each other (without antagonistic attitudes)... we can have teh tarik together someday, together with Harry of course! But Sky don't bring your double barrels along, OK?

Hope Sky can use this as a mirror to reflect upon himself and change his ways. If there is a paradigm shift as an outcome, then I am most happy. This blog has serve its purpose and achieve its objective.

Another "compliment " to Sky

Wah, only today I come to realise Sky has so much capabilities - I doubt anyone in the swiftlet farming community is in his class! Why? Because he has multiple intelligence unmatched by any earthlings.

He is also so well informed it will take him no time to notice this Blog too. Eh.... wait a minute, did he sneak back to Lowyat's forum quietly again lately? May be.. he does moves with stealth like a cat, come from behind one!

See, first he can think like a swiftlet, next he moves like a cat and thirdly can bite (poor Harry) like a bulldog & never let go! Wah.. like the Chinese mythological creature with 3 heads and 6 limbs!

So he now thinks Harry is behind this Blog with multiple identities. Natural for one with multiple personalities to think of others with multiple identities wat! Some day the truth will be revealed!

Actually Harry is such a cute and cuddly person like a teddy bear. Now poor him end up as Sky's punching bag! Can he not has mercy for poor souls and not shoot at every opportunity?

Be careful... don't play, play with this guy.. he has double barrels and shoot mercilessly!

I think this weekend, I will go visit grandpa in his cave and meditate; to reflect on human nature, with Buddha's teachings.

The "humble" side of Sky

Checking out Sky's blog has became part of my daily routine now. As mentioned before.. he is a colorful character & smart one too... something to learn from/about him always! He is a man of wisdom (sure or not?), knowledge with diverse interests.

Now I am considering to try leeches as a new source of diet, rich in protein it seems; may not look so yummy though. But can't catch them in the air leh.. so how? And if not careful.. it sucks my blood instead, me becomes their food! So better think over again.

Today I discovered the humble side of Sky, admitting he is no expert and adviced not to listen all he says, which can be wrong!

If only I know earlier, then I won't go all the way to Tasik Kenyir, just to find out it is no swiftlet haven lah! Why don't he say so earlier! Eh.. did he say so only after reading my comment on Tasik Kenyir visit?

Anyway, I don't feel CON after reading his frank admission. I shouldn't blame him after all.... it is my own fault actually, like my mother always reminds me: "Look before you jump, son!" When I first learn to fly... so dark inside leh, cannot see anything but still got to jump what. Tat's why I don't listen to mum. When you grow older, you always remembers what mum said, right?

When reading his postings at Lowyat before... it came across this is one smart guy with a BIG (swellon or mellon) head. Just not sure how big is the brain inside?

With his humble admission today, suddenly everything come to light - BINGO... crystal clear now! Yes, he has a BIG head no doubt. But the hat (or helmet) he wears is even bigger!

What about his brain size? ... sama, sama (same, same) a bird's brain; just like mine lah! I can tell by his bird sense. No wonder he is such a successful swiftlet farmer. He really thinks like a bird; way ahead of many people, sifus & CON-sultants.

So be careful; don't play, play with this guy, OK?

My blog inspirators & motives

Allow me to start with a Angmoh proverb: "Birds of a feather, flock together". Swiftlet farmers meet with a common motive.. chit chat, gossips, share knowledge & tricks how to entice us swiftlets come to your 'hotel' to build our love nests. (Hmmm....tat inspires Swiftbuild to coin his name, I see, clever boy!) Then after tat, when we go out makan, makan/jalan, jalan.... you people sneak in to curi our love beds! Hey.. tat's not nice and funny at all!

Guess you all smart people out there knows what motivates my blog! Like I just said, we all have a motive. Some make their motives known, some disguise their agenda cleverly. But we swiflets are also not 3 years old, can read between the lines too. By the way, sorry for another digression, our 3-year old is equivalent to you people at 18 years. But we are luckier because by the time we are one year old.. we are old enough to mate already. You people still got to wait much longer!

OK, let's go back to my current topic of Motives...

There are 3 types of people in the world..
1) FEW People that makes things happen.
This reminds me of Harry. He has a noble cause (motive?) of helping his newbies. Dr. Chris try to motivates people (with his book and seminar) to make Millions RM by swiftlet farming, even we all know >80% won't make it.
Sorry I leave out the CON-sultants here, 'cause they CON people into believing "they make things happen".

2) MANY people who watch the happenings; 2 sub-species here:
i) Lame people who sat & watch quietly, saying nothing from sidelines (sorry to say most r like this)
ii) Some who watch and make alot of noise.. biseng, biseng (motive?) like Sky Nest?
(Hey, count me out because I am only a bird)

3) The majority of people don't even know or care what is going on at all.. no need to know them lah.

So what's my motive & inspiration? Guess many have the answers without me saying.

You all know Harry and Sky Nest are the recent rising "Stars" personalities in the Malaysian Blogs scenes on swiftlet farming... both are colorful characters, soon they will both achieve celebrity status! One more action with talk, the other talk more than action.

One Sifu ever told me (not Buddha), when you point a finger at other people, 3 fingers points back at you! So let me point a finger back at myself before you do. Me...? NATO.. No Action, Talk Only. You can point 2 more back at me, OK?

Both gentlemen are trying to share their experiences with newbies, each a twist of their own. It is amusing why Sky Nest picked (motives again?) on Harry non stop (pardon me Harry if u disagree)! He pointed so many fingers at Lowyat forum already.. until people got so pissed & drove him out. He left with tail between legs without apology! He then turn the screw on Harry day after day ('cause he ran out of fingers to point now)!

Allow me to wind up here with another Angmoh's saying: "All life's a stage";
and our Chinaman wisdom: "Watch the world beneath with laughing eyes"

So long as there are actors on stage, there are script writers around and audience to entertain.
As long as Sky Nest continues his way.... there will be enough material to keep this blogs going & alive... chirp, chirp, chirp (sorry we birds don't laughs ha, ha, ha like you people.. not so graceful lah)

Wanna know why you not have many birds?

I think swiftlet farmers, especially CON-sultant type, have many answers... but still like to know more. So I try to shed some light from our perspective.

Firstly most of you don't think like swiftlets! How I know? From the way you people talk lah, of course!!

See.. when we hear all the sweet mating calls from afar, sure we come around to look see, look see. Sex always sells! Then when we see a "DOG kennel" entry.. OMG.... alah mak! Is there a big dog inside? Why some of you make a dog's entrance instead of a swiftlet's one... like going into a cave mah! Got it?

Then there is this Cat enjoying steoreo music on DIY Swiftlet farming guide (is it from Sky's private swiftlet karaoke collection?)... calling other people to "Copy Cat". If you learn by copying a cat's behaviour... tat's another bad mistake lah! We birds are so scared of cats! They are so sneaky, always like to come from behind one. Too late when you find out. Got it again? So dangerous!

There is this story of the "Buddha and the COWS".... His wisdom says "Lucky we have no cows". No cows means no stress & worries ma! Good philosophy and very true! Tat's why He is Buddha, no need to keep cows and swiftlets. But when you apply the wisdom to swiftlet farming, "Lucky we have no birds"? Cannot lah.. if so you people won't bother to learn new tricks.

Look, to be fair to Sky, he tells only half the story (tat's still honesty and no lies). The moral of the story is "Cow sense" tells you to use "bird sense" instead, right? Think and feel like a swiflet coming into your farm. When we fly inside.. (most of the time we like to glide, less energy mah!), the flight path to nesting areas is smooth or not? We don't like doing many left and right turns many times you know; and changing direction suddenly.

I like spacious roving room before I go in to check the the bedrooms... must be well ventilated so not too hot, no air con is OK.

I think you all know the temperature, humidity and lighting conditions already. So no need to 'chiong hei' and repeat here again. Many Con-sultants say less than 1-2 lux! We swiftlets don't carry lux meter around to check you know. So don't get CON there. It is good to get have some light coming in from the entrance. This is like "emergency exit" lights you all have in shopping malls and your office tower blocks. When we get scared.. where to "cha boh" quickly in emergency? Important you know. Also when my babies learn to fly, this is like a light beacon to the outside world.

If a narrow passage way (like a stairway) leading to the bedrooms.. I worry if got space inside to make U-turn out or not. So must make me feel comfortable mah! Better if I feel wide space in front before I go in to explore. Don't worry we need no light to feel our way around.

Then sometimes I find planks are place along my flight path direction.. like tat not convenient ma! Must make another 90 angle turn to perch on it.. so troublesome!

So next time you walk into your farm... think like a swiftlet, OK? The bottom line is.... use more "bird sense" as your common sense.

What Swiftlet haven? Alah mak!!!

Oh great, so many swiftlet havens kind Sky has recommended! How not to check it out, stupid right?

Haven no. 3 looks so enticing.. plenty of water around. Must have lots of yummy insects around. The first one I went turn out to be Tasik Kenyir, so far away. But never mind lah, since he listed it, must be worthwhile to take a shot.

But when I got there.. mana ada insects manyak? The lake is deep water.. more fishes than insects lah.... mana ada marshland with plenty of food? So Sky do you know what we swiftlets like or not? Feel deceived man!

Ai ya.. always wonder what is the catch for freebies, only now I know, info posted by half past six people led you down the wrong path. Eh.. sounds familiar leh! Didn't Sky always said that about somebody...hmmm is it Harry? Is that why the Angmoh says "A pot shouldn't call a kettle black"? Our Thai neighbour's version is "Same, same... (but different)"!

Any way since got so far to the east coast, some more agaisnst N.E. monsoon winds; a bit tired. Lucky I know of Tirokswift's farm there. So stop there for a break. Not a bad place I must say, toilet quite clean. Thanks Tirokswift.

Free accomodation, any takers?

Each day I come back after my meals of gourmet insects, I have now develop a habit of checking the internet where the next 5-star hotel is for my next vacation.

Wah lau ... it sounds strange but TRUE, so many freebies to choose from! I am truly spoiled for choice! No advance bookings required, no service charges etc ...

You got to believe it: IT IS TOTALLY FREE!!! Where on earth you get such deals... not for human earthlings as far I as I know. When something is free.. people will always ask where is the catch? But for us, no worries man. Go for it loh !!!

A few days ago, a kind soul codename 'Sky Nest' even wants to catalog all the swiftlet hotels in Asia. Wow, that is nice Sky, 'terima kasik, mayak mayak'. It will be nicer if you include a star rating guide n list facilities like swimming pools etc. So no need wasting our time checking lah.

Hotels with security cameras are preferred, so should be listed too. We feel safer you know, but not in bedrooms, please. Alright if the lights don't work n no need TV 'cause we sleep pretty early.. more time for mating; besides TV have more bad news than good news anyway. But the piped-in music must be good, OK?

Ah.. Sky, your collection of "Swiftlet Karaoke" titles is fantastic news! Very clever idea indeed.. biggest and best collection in Asia.. WOW, GREAT! I really look forward to it. But we don't use ringgit currency u know. Can I offer you my nests in x'change, please? If u OK, guarantee more than 200 of my bird friends will join; even stay in your hotel! Counting bird nests is better than counting ringgits, right?

Like your Love songs too.. so romantic in seducing my love mates! Got MP3 version or not? Since you can't post pretty birds with boobs.. naked swiftlets is OK what!

Now I even know how to use Google to look for other 'Haven paradise' for holidays. You human earthlings are so...oooo very kind. All for free! So where is the catch? Lucky for us.. just enjoy, no need to care! I will check them out some time soon.

Life is certainly getting more interesting n comfortable for birdies like us.
